Mini and Mod

Post date: Tuesday, September 23, 2014

I have been saying this for a while and it might have been wishful thinking but, all in all, my wishes were granted. The 60’s are coming back strong (late 60’s to be exact); Spring/Summer 2015 fashion week confirmed it! Shows full of clear evidence of a nod to mod, and honestly I’m jazzed*. The 60’s is one of my favorite decades, and how could it not be, with all of its wonderful aspects; black, whites and pops of color, cat-eye everything, turtle necks, fringe, pastels, mini dresses, and the fashion revolt against the modest styles of the past. The 60’s were a great time in fashion, rebellion against conservative poodle skirts of the 50’s led to the birth of mod and mini.

Now, I’m not the biggest fan of skirts, but I can make a serious exception for a mini two-piece. Also, during this time women began borrowing suit styles from men (HELLO, CAN I GET AN AMEN). Plus, menswear in the 60’s was the most*, women weren’t the only ones that revolted against the orthodox regime of the fashion world. Men’s suits were slimmer, more tailored; their pants were trim at the bottom! I mean, I think by now you can tell why the 60’s were pretty bad*. But the best part of this all is that it's back and all is right in the world, so grab put on a fab* mini, or your favorite tailored suit and celebrate because this season is sure to be a gas*!

Below you will see my 60’s inspired look of the week along with a list of some of the grooviest*, 60’s inspired fashion shows of Spring 2015! Stay tuned for more post on the 60's soon!
